EcoStrategy Group Disbands

Partners Move On to New Opportunities

 

PALO ALTO, California, September 30, 2011 – The co-founders of EcoStrategy Group today announced that they are disbanding the partnership for other business pursuits.  Kathleen Gilligan has accepted a position as General Manager of Canto Software Inc., a leading supplier of digital asset management solutions.  Karen Janowski will provide strategic marketing and interim CMO services as a Principal in KJ & Co.

EcoStrategy Group provided sustainability consulting services for businesses as well as go-to-market strategies for clean tech companies.  During its four years of operations, the company served clients in the software, building energy management, commercial real estate, electric vehicle, and solar industries.

“We have enjoyed the process of deepening our knowledge in these fields and broadening our connections in the sustainability and clean tech communities,” said Karen.  In addition to client work, EcoStrategy Group developed an expertise in sustainability communications and published two well‑regarded reports:  “Trends in Sustainability Reporting:  A Close-Up Look at Bay Area Companies” and “Addressing What Matters in Sustainability Communications.”  [link to these reports]

The two partners applied their complementary skill sets to provide value to clients, and their collaboration has been personally rewarding for both women.  “We’ve learned a lot, laughed a lot, and we have developed a deep mutual respect and friendship.  Although this marks the end of our business partnership, I am sure we will have the opportunity to collaborate in the future,” said Kathleen.

Both partners will continue their commitment to environmental sustainability through their work with non-profit organizations.  Karen is the Education Chair and member of the leadership team for locally focused environmental organization, GreenTown Los Altos.  Kathleen serves on the advisory committee for the Acterra Business Environmental Awards.
